  • Hello, Soaker87.

I just noticed that this wiki has little to no policies regarding the image uploaded to and uses on articles. Specifically, the full artworks that were uploaded to pixiv or Twitter by the artists themselves.

I noticed that most people doesn't use the fair use tag when uploading those full artworks and the card images to the wiki. To make matter worse, most doesn't bother to include infomation into the image's summary about where those full artworks came from.

I hope you can do something about it.

    Regards,

    Yuuyatails.

    • I didn't realize people were uploading them.

I'm really not versed in legal terms, but I thought using photos of the cards would fall under fair use. Since it's for education purposes?

As for the full artwork, that kinda treads a fine line. It's the same exact artwork as on the card pictures, not like it's fanart. But at the same time, yeah, the artist's pixiv should at least be properly linked to since they really had no obligation to share the full artwork in the first place. I'll see if I can find and fix those instances.

    • Well, the card's images does fall under fair use, since some of those cards (specifically, the collaboration boosters and starters) features other companies' properties.

Anyway if you wonder how the summary for card images and artworks looks like, here's two examples of the card image's summaries I made for you:

In case of the former, the artist doesn't have any social accounts or any art community site account, thus it can't be linked. In case of latter, the artist can be linked since he has the pixiv account.

By default, the copyright text is "All rights belongs to Bandai", but since collaboration boosters and starters features characters from other franchises, the copyright text will become "All rights belongs to Bandai, [company A] and [company B, if exist]".

For Ghost, Ishimori Productions (A production company created by the late Shotaro Ishinomori and the copyright owner of the Kamen Rider franchise) and Toei (the maker of the Kamen Rider shows and movies) will be listed. For Veemon, only Toei Animation (the anime studio that produces the Digimon anime series) will be listed since Bandai had already being listed by default.

Because those images does fall under fair use, the use of the {{fairuse}} tag is recommended.

    • I understand, but at this point, it would be absolutely insane to go through all the thousands of images on the wiki and add a fair use tag to each of them. I wouldn't have the time or motivation, and wouldn't want to pin such a task on anyone else.

It might be more reasonable to just add a standard disclaimer onto the main page.

    • I can see why.

After all, there are literally thousands of images on this wiki, and there's no way a single person can handle this job in a short time. It's better to put the disclaimer onto the main page about the card images and official artworks.

    • Well, I attempted something, although it doesn't cover collab cards.

As for the full artwork, I tried to link to artists' pages on some of the ones I could find.

    • For linking the artist on the article, the code for it is [(insert link here) (artist name)].

      For example: [https://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=6634 Josuke]

      it will become this: Josuke

For linking the full artwork, you should only put them into the artwork's discription, like this:

"The full artwork of the (insert card name here) card, illustrated by (insert artist name here and if possible, link the artist's account). The image source can be found [(insert image source here) here].

      All rights belongs to Bandai."

    • I agree (to someone who often violates the terms of usage of wiki, it really is a waste of time)

Here comes the rude moderator of the wiki. (Note to Chihayajikan: Do not take this line very serious. If you are very serious about this very line, you lose.)

      Did you mean me?

    • I understand what you are trying to do. But most of us finds that the illustrator panel is sufficient. And if u do noticed, the name of the illustrator is stated on the card itself.

But then, feel free to include the tags. No one is stopping you. :D

    • if youre gonna try to provoke me, dont leave a disclaimer saying 'please dont own me im just playing'

      be a man or bust

otherwise we'd just have a bunch of honk kong users which log off when trying to say anything against me but much to their demise ive got their IP location memorized

      Wait what?

I don't want to go off-topic, but can you care to explain to me what are those 'honk kong users' you are talking about?

    • most people on this wiki are fine with me as their tyrant, except for a hong kong user that likes to say i'm a nicen't person anonymously

      Well, it can't be helped.

It is inevitable that someone will take notice of the attitude of yours and start talking crap about you, even when you are an admin of the wiki.

Not me though, as I can see you are contributed to the wiki the most and I can see why you become an admin in the first place.

    • i particularly find no reason to complain about you, I just dont think worrying about copyright law is something we should bother with after 10 years of this wiki + its such a chore and i want to believe you have something better to do with your time

read a book, play some games, editing who the picture belongs to is a non-rewarding way to spend your youth. if bandai gets offended and complains, then i can offer myself as a translator for the english website and we all win

Em...to be honest with you, I have some doubts with that one.

By the way, I don't want to drag this thread too long with off-topic comments (This is Soaker87's wall, after all), so why not we move the off-topic discussion to somewhere else?
