Extra Information

This card is based on Hyacinthus, a Spartan prince and a lover of Apollo from Greek mythology. In the myth, he was so beautiful that various gods were in love with him. This included Apollo, Zephyrus, and Boreas. He ultimately chose Apollo, however. And while they enjoyed a very close relationship together, one day, when Apollo would like to teach Hyacinthus the game of quoit, Hyacinthus was accidentally hit by the discus thrown by Apollo and fell dead. Unable to save Hyacinthus despite using all he might, Apollo, in deep sadness and despair, created a flower, the hyacinth, out of the blood spilled by Hyacinthus. The death of Hyacinthus was depicted in many Greek artworks.
