BS62-CX01

Sky Contract (空契約 ; kuu-keiyaku) is a family introduced in BS62, possessed exclusively by the Contract card The PartnerWingedDragon Terad, and the Red cards with Contract Advent in the same set. The family is a representation to the contract which the Contractor X (Kai) made with Terad in the lore, and Terad's nature and pride of being able to fly in the sky. Contract Advent cards affiliated with Terad has the family as well.

Play Style[]

As currently all cards in this family are either a Contract card or a Red card with Contract Advent, the deck highly revolves around the Advent mechanic. As part of the new series after the age of Rebirth cards, it also plays around high numbers of counters to differentiate themselves from the previous cards. Cards in this family are also always paired with the Scarlet Flame family, often along with a tertiary family which is mostly irrelevant to the play style of the deck, so the play style may overlap with other Scarlet Flame family cards. On the other hand, a lot of effects from the Scarlet Flame family cards also reference Terad.

The end goal of the deck is to build up enough counters to advent the finisher The AncientWingBlade Terad-Fuhrer, which can perform a one-turn-kill by dealing life burns that send cores to Trash while refreshing himself. As such, it is advised to always put The PartnerWingedDragon Terad in the starting hand, so that the player may have an unremovable Advent base for the Advent cards in the deck. Due to the Advent conditions of the Sky Contract family cards, they are limited to only capable of adventing onto Terad or each other. As Teard himself doesn't provide draws like The PartnerDragon Glow does, the deck has to rely on other cards to push the engine. The most typical examples include Ancient Dragon Febrani and The MagiDeity Larvandad, who are also abused in other Red Contract decks. Terad also has his own supports which can draw, for example The AirborneDragon Tomcat-Dragon and The AirborneDragon Striger-Dragon. Since Terad's counter-increasing effect can also activate while he's in soul state, and that he has a Contract Advent card which can advent in Main Step (Striger-Dragon), there is no problem summoning him on the first turn, risking being removed from the opponent.

The mid-game is the period to build up counters. As the main counter-increasing effect is from Terad himself, what the other cards have to do is simply returning cores from the trash via effects, which is the way to trigger Terad's counter-increase. Players may also choose to make a few attacks to bring the opposing life down to two or three, so that Terad-Fuhrer can make fewer attacks to finish the game. As a few cards in the deck can also target attack, players can also attack to trigger on attack effect while forcing the opposing Spirits to block, avoiding touching the opposing life before the preparation is complete. With Terad's ability to send cores on destroyed Spirit to Trash, it can also reduce the number of choices the opponent has for response on Terad's player's turn.

When the player reaches eight counters, they are ready to advent Terad-Fuhrer, which has an Over Count condition of eight counters or more. At this stage of the game, the opponent should already be at four lives or less, so with Terad-Fuhrer's double life burn on each attack, by continuously refreshing him, as mentioned before, the game can be over in two to three attacks. Players can also speed up the process by deploying The Red World, which can give a life burn at the end of each attack, or braving Terad-Fuhrer to The BullAstralArmored BraveTaurus, which also give life burn when getting blocked. Due to the nature of building up counters, as well as Red's ability of straight draw (instead of "reveal and add"), the deck can also fit in other cards that are originally unrelated to the Scarlet Flame or Sky Contract family. Typical examples include The ThreeDisasterBeasts SeaDisaster Desirathan for wide range depletion with little to no costs, and EVANGELION Mark. 06 -Spear of Cassius- and The DarkStones SandseaPirateDeity Pharaom as counter cards.
