Red is one of the six colors of cards in the world of Battle Spirits. It is represented by the ruby symbol. It premiered in BS01. It has been favored by main protagonists in Battle Spirits manga and anime as their main color.
Strategy
The main strategy in using red is beatdown. Red is very aggressive, featuring many spirits and nexus that reward players for attacking. It has many spirits that gain extra BP when they attacks (e.g. Edgehog). On the other hand, red also has many cards that can directly destroy small spirits, such as Flame Tempest. These cards are frequently used to supplement red-based decks, by destroying potential blockers. Thus, it is very hard to defend oneself from red-based decks in early game.
Unlike purple, red tends to have problems destroying large spirits, since most red destruction spells specify that they can only destroy spirits with BP below certain values, such as Flame Cyclone, which can only destroy a spirit with BP 5000 or less. Thus, red has difficulties dealing with opponents' spirits in later game, in which the opponents would probably begin to summon larger spirits or level up their small spirits. Thus, red is not very suitable for control tactics.

Themes and Flavour
Red is themed around destruction and the element of fire. The color red is strongly related to aggression and anger, which explain its tendency. Red spirit types mainly consist of dragons and other reptilian creatures. Fire is frequently seen in red spells, such as Cross Fire. All these agrees well with red's highly aggressive tactics. Lastly, red nexus tend to depict wastelands, which, by definition, are lands which are in a state of ruin.
Red also seems to have a hatred for white, since some of the red cards specifically target white, such as The Ruby Sun. This is in all likelihood due to the fact that white is controlling and strives for order, while red, in its core, desire aggression and freedom.
