Puppet Beast (動玩; dougan) is a family premiered in BS02 together with the Yellow color. Cards in the family are in general Yellow/Purple/White in color, with the latter two introduced by the Kamen Rider collaboration series.
The literal Japanese name reads as "animated toys", and is the main theme of the family. When compared to the similar family, Toy Beast (小玩), Spirits in the family are bigger in size and scale in general. It has long been a minor family and didn't have any card on or above the Rare rarity.
In CB06, however, the "Gamer" and "Bugsters" Spirits from the Kamen collaboration series, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, are categorized as Puppet Beasts due to the how they are based on videogame, and introduced a series of Purple and White cards for the family, and also its first X-Rare, Kamen Rider Ex-Aid Muteki Gamer. With the continuous supports that came after CB06, the number of Purple/White cards in the family outnumbered the main series Puppet Beast family cards, which are solely Yellow. On the other hand, as the Gamer archetype revolves around names and the Kamen family, direct supports that target the Puppet Beast family still do not exist even with the introduction of a large amount of cards.
In Contract Saga: True, Puppet Beast has finally become a major main set family in BS68 with the introduction of The ToolcraftContractor Kinich-Ahau and his deck. In the lore, Kinich-Ahau governs Spirits that take the appearance of various tools, and they are all Puppet Beasts. The design of the new series of Puppet Beast Spirits under Kinich-Ahau revolves around "living tools", "mechanical animals", and "robots". The motif of tools and stationery calls back to The StationeryRobot Stationer. As a Grandwalker deck, the new cards provides actual support that targets the family itself, and revolves around the new keyword, Ultra Holy Life, with a splash of the old keyword, Holy Life.
