Battle Spirits: Brave (バトルスピリッツ ブレイヴ) is a manga inspired by Bandai's trading card game. It ran in the monthly magazine, Kerokero Ace, during the run of the anime version of Battle Spirits Brave. It does not follow the continuity of the previous Battle Spirits Shounen Gekiha Dan manga.
It was drawn by Yuki Sugiyama
Two tankoubon were released. Oddly chapters 5-8 were omitted entirely, only briefly summarized during volume two. This still leaves a major gap in the story.
Volume 1- Released 2/26/2011
Volume 2- Released 9/18/2011
Differences between the Anime and Manga
-Aside from the aspect of collecting the 12 Zodiac X-rares to prevent the earth's reset, the plot was altered significantly. Only some early events in the anime were kept mostly intact.
-Stella, Zolder and Suzuri do not appear, along with numerous minor characters.
-There is no indication that Flora is the reincarnation of Kajitsu. A Barone/Flora pairing is strongly hinted at.
-The mazoku are returned to Otherworld, as they desired. Only Duc and his family choose to remain on Earth.
-Geraid lives, and is also truly loyal to Gilfam.
-Both Geraid and Gilfam are card battlers.
-Dan and Clackey return to the past, along with Mai and Kenzo.
