Azure Contract (蒼契約;sou-keiyaku) is a family introduced in BS60, possessed exclusively by the Contract card The PartnerShark Shack, and the Blue cards with Contract Advent in the same set. The family is a representation to the contract which the wanderer Dan made with Shack in the lore, and since all the Blue cards with Contract Advent are technically a variant of Shack's power, they have the Azure Contract family as well.
Play Style[]
As currently all cards in this family are either a Contract card or a Blue card with Contract Advent, the deck highly revolves around the Advent mechanic. As part of the new series after the age of Rebirth cards, it also plays around high numbers of counters to differentiate themselves from the previous cards. Cards in this family are also always paired with the Azure Wave family, often along with a tertiary family which is mostly irrelevant to the play style of the deck, so the play style may overlap with other Azure Wave family cards.
Shack proves to be a very good card for hand filter, so it is advised to always put it in starting hand. Pairing up with The Treasures of the Ocean Empire, it is a straight up draw two on attack. The rest of the deck is also about continuously filtering the hand and increasing counters, with several cards having "cost destruction" effects.
The finisher of the deck is The GrandseaPrince Gaburu-Shack, which requires the opponent to pay extra costs for using any cards from hand or Removed Zone. It also has a "cost destruction" effect which can pierce, so a field wipe is relatively easy. Due to the nature of building up counters, as well as Blue's ability of filtering from hand (instead of "reveal and add"), the deck can also fit in other cards that are originally unrelated to the Azure Wave or Azure Contract family. Typical examples include Blue Demon-God and The CreationDragonDeity Grand-Siegfried for big symbol punch, The ThreeDisasterBeasts SeaDisaster Desirathan for wide range depletion with little to no costs, and EVANGELION Mark. 06 -Spear of Cassius- and The DarkStones SandseaPirateDeity Pharaom as counter cards. The deck also used to utilize The ChrownosSupremeDeity Shin-Chronos, The RouseSeaEmperor Valshark, and Granat-Golem, but they were banned for this very reason.
